Duties: Hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative officer in the enforcement of any zoning ordinance
Hear and decide special exceptions to the terms of an ordinance
Authorize on appeal in specific cases a variance from the terms of the ordinance.
Qualifications: Understanding of and appreciation for zoning principles, knowledge of conditions for zoning principles, knowledge of conditions in the community and of its planning objectives and policies, general civic interest, as opposed to special or private interest, and a fair judicial approach.

Qualifications: Are qualified by interest
2 members shall be residents of or property owners in the residential section of the Berlin Historic Zone
2 members shall be residents of or property owners in the business section of the Berlin Historic Zone
1 member shall be a resident or property owner in Berlin outside the Historic Zone

Develop and coordinate cooperative working relationships with town officials and staff, local and state public agencies and civic clubs in the development of recreational facilities
Assist the Mayor and Council in the planning and provision of recreational facilities to meet current and projected needs through recommendations for land acquisition, facility development and funding sources
Develop a comprehensive program of facility management and maintenance
Qualifications: At least 3 members must reside within the corporate limits
The absence of 3 meetings of any member during the calendar year without an excuse shall create a vacancy
Meetings: Must meet at least 6 times per calendar year
Term: 2 year term
3 members for two years; 2 for one year; and 1 for three years
Members: 5 members (ex officio members when deemed necessary obtaining expert advice or volunteer services for individual projects or programs)
