BERLIN ELECTRIC TESTS LED LIGHTS

The light on the left in this photo is LED, the light on the right is HDS.

The Berlin Electric Department has recently switched one of the Victorian streetlamps in front of Town Hall to an LED light.  The majority of the Victorian lights use 100 watt HDS (high-density sodium) bulbs and the new light is a 27watt LED (light-emitting diode). The old lights provided an off yellow tint & LED are a bright white and save about 70% energy per fixture.

The light at Town Hall is a demonstration light – let us know what you think!  Call Electric Utility Director Tim Lawrence at 410-629-1713 or email him at tlawrence@berlinmd.gov.
