  • Customer Service Representative I



    Reporting directly to the Customer Service Supervisor this position plays a hands-on and integral role in the daily operations of the Town of Berlin. This position creates and maintains a high level of customer service by assisting the Town’s customers.  Responsibilities will include: collecting utility, tax and misc. payments from customers and posting of collections; coordinating the starting, transfer and termination of utility services; handling cash to include daily reconciliation of cash drawer and depositing cash; and interpreting and resolving customer billing questions and/or complaints.  The ideal candidate will be dynamic, articulate and will have a background that includes a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least two years experience with accounting and/or billing operations, cash collections, customer service, and daily cash receipt operations; three years experience in an office environment; and at least one year of experience with computerized billing systems and Microsoft Office products.  Candidates are encouraged to submit a confidential resume for employment to jfleetwood@berlinmd.gov by Friday August 24, 2018.

    The Town of Berlin is in search for a qualified Meter Technician. Selected individual will perform customer meter maintenance such as installations, removals of meters, and testing of meters. They will maintain the transformer testing program, perform installs and shut-offs of accounts. Maintain all electric meter requirements without

    supervision. Utilize testing equipment and hand/power tools to test voltage. Installs volt

    recorders, locates sources of partial or no power, locate underground utility lines and ability to program Demand Meters. Wears personal protective equipment, as required.

    Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of metering experience in an electric utility. Certifications to be maintained include meter certification, valid CDL license and First Aid/CPR. Must be computer literate.

  • Administrative Assistant


    The Town of Berlin is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant. This highly responsible position will report directly to the Director of Economic Development/Community Development and works closely with various department heads. Successful candidate will assist with the implementation and close out of all events. Candidate must be well versed with MS Word, Excel, Social Media, and modern office technology. Experience with Publisher and Graphic Arts are a plus. Must be able to exercise sound judgment, be highly organized with attention to detail and must have the ability to be flexible with duties on a day to day basis. Candidate must be able to professionally interact with the public and all people they will have contact with. Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.  Position requires a minimum of 3 years of administrative duties.

     Selected candidate must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to work well with others and conduct themselves professionally at all times. The selected candidate will be required to interact with residents of the Town. Must be able to work in all types of weather. Must be available to work weekends-when needed. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without accommodations. Successful candidate will operate lawn equipment and small equipment such as saws and hand tools.

  • Substation Linesman/Power Plant Tech

    The Town of Berlin, MD is in search of a qualified Substation Linesman/Power Plant Relay Tech. The selected individual must be proficient in the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of transformers, reclosers, voltage regulators, switches, relays, metering and programming of controls and all electrical apparatus within the Town of Berlin substation, power plant and distribution system. We require 8-10 years of relevant experience. Competitive pay and participation in the Maryland State Retirement program.
