Wastewater Lab Manager
Full time with full benefits
Starting salary range: Grade 11 Step 1 ($25.43/hour) to
Grade 11 Step 8 ($30.22/hour) DOQ

Applicants must:
- Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Have or obtain (and maintain) ATSSA Flagger Certification and CPR/AED Certification.
- Maintain laboratory certification status with the USEPA Discharge Monitoring Report Quality Assurance (DMRQA) Program.
- Have basic mathematical and written skills.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record; pre-employment and periodic Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews are required.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug/alcohol testing.
Priority Given to those who:
- Possess, or are willing to obtain, one or more of the following Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) certifications:
- Distribution and Collection License
- 5A Wastewater License
- Class 2 Water License
- Must possess and maintain a Water Sampler Certification in accordance with MDE requirements.
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Are experienced in water or wastewater laboratory processes.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform water and wastewater analyses using approved USEPA methods and established laboratory protocols and train other personnel as needed.
- Participate in available training opportunities.
- Prepare laboratory materials, chemicals, and calibration standards and operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment in accordance with quality assurance and control requirements.
- Collect and analyze water and wastewater samples throughout the treatment process, including influent, effluent, and monitoring wells.
- Accurately log, label, track, and maintain custody of samples throughout all processes.
- Monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and control systems to support effective and compliant operations.
