Chief Plant Operator – Water Resources

Chief Plant Operator – Full time with full benefits
Wastewater Department
Starting salary range: Grade 15 Step 1 ($30.91/hour) to
Grade 15 Step 5 ($34.12/hour) DOQ
Applicants must:
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess and maintain a valid Maryland Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Possess and maintain a Class 5A Wastewater Certification, Wastewater Superintendent Certification, and a water sampler certification (Maryland Department of the Environment).
- Have or be able to obtain ATSSA flagger and CPR/AED certifications.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical, biological, and/or chemical process knowledge.
- Be proficient in interpreting SCADA control systems, performing maintenance, and managing chemical usage.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug/alcohol testing.
Duties include:
- Operating and maintaining the Wastewater Treatment Plant, collection systems, and pumping stations to meet permit requirements.
- Performing routine inspections, collecting and analyzing treatment samples, and documenting plant processes.
- Managing and maintaining plant equipment, including pumps, motors, chemical feed systems, and blowers.
- Ensuring compliance with all safety programs.
- Attending training and staying current on regulations and best practices.
- Supporting the Water and Stormwater departments as needed.
Work Environment:
- Outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions, including wet, humid, and noisy environments.
- Exposure to mechanical parts, confined spaces, heights, and wastewater.
- Weekend, holiday, and emergency response availability required.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 100 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Applicants must:
- Be flexible, with shifts during the day, evening, and midnight.
- Be 20 years old or older.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Have a high school diploma or approved GED.
- Pass an extensive background check that includes a drug test, criminal history review, check of prior employers, and references, among other requirements.
- Must be able to complete an entry-level MILES/NCIC logon course certified by CJIS.
- No experience is required, but it is preferred.

Police Officer
Police Officer – Berlin Police Department
Full-time with full benefits – Experienced or Cadets
The Berlin Police Department is accepting applications for full-time police officers. There will be a physical agility test for cadets at the Berlin Police Department. Upon successful completion of the physical test, the written test would follow immediately on-site.
Cadets: The starting salary for cadets is $23.12/hour (G5 S9) while in the academy and through successful completion of field training. Salary then goes to $26.78/hour (G7 S11).
Experienced/Laterals:
Less than two (2) years of experience $26.78/hour (G7 S11).
Over two (2) years of experience $31.02/hour (G9 S13).
10+ years of experience $32.55/hour (G11 S11).

- Be 21 Years Old
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Have a high school diploma or approved GED
- Pass extensive background checks to include: Psychological exams, Physical exams, Drug tests, Criminal history, Credit check, and Driving Record.

- Educational benefits (required paid in full by town/non-required 100% reimbursed with contract)
- Overtime and compensatory leave
- Take home car if approved by the Chief of Police
