Essential Functions: The Town of Berlin is seeking qualified applicants for the Electric Line Worker 1st Class position. This position is responsible for aiding in the operations and duties of the Electric department. Under general supervision of the Chief Lineman, must be highly proficient in linework in the construction and maintenance of the 14.4 and 25 KV overhead and underground electrical distribution system and performs other municipal/utility work as required. Must be proficient in installing and connecting capacitor banks, transformers, switches, regulators, and all associated overhead and underground equipment. Must have knowledge of electrical principles, safety procedures, electrical testing, hydraulics, and rigging principles. Possess skills in reading and understanding blueprints, schematic drawings, mathematics, and visual identification of conductor sizes and types. The applicant will need to be able to operate all required equipment.
Education and Experience: The successful candidate will possess a High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Must, at a minimum, have completed a Certified 48-month Lineman Apprenticeship Training Program and have at least three years experience as a 1st Class Lineman. Must maintain a valid Class “B” Maryland Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Salary will be dependent on qualifications.

Starting pay will vary according to experience. Individuals must be flexible, with shifts during the day, evening, and midnight.
Applicants must:
- Be 20 years old or older.
- Be a U.S. citizen.

POLICE OFFICER
The Berlin Police Department is accepting applications for a full-time police officers. There will be a physical agility test for cadets at the Berlin Police Department, with the written test to immediately follow upon successful completion of the physical agility.
Starting salary for cadets will be $40,435 while in the academy and through successful completion of field training. Salary then goes to $46,217.
Applicants must:
• Be 21 years old
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Have a high school diploma or approved GED
• Pass extensive background check to include: Psychological exam, Physical exam, Drug test, Criminal history, Credit check, and Driving Record.
Starting salary for lateral ranges from $46,217-$51,043, depending on experience.
