Meet the Planning Director

Planning Director, Dave Engelhart started his employment with the Town on August 26, 2013.

Where are you from (professionally)?

Before coming to Berlin I was an Appraiser in the Accomack County, VA Assessor’s office. Prior to that I was the county’s Plans Examiner in the Building and Zoning Department and was the Zoning Administrator for the Town of Onley, VA (part-time) concurrently.

What attracted you to Berlin? To the position?

The Town’s unique character and quality of life are what attracted me to Berlin, and I want to provide the best service to the residents and the Mayor and Council to keep these intact.

What are you looking forward to about working in Berlin?

I am excited to be part of the extraordinary team here in Berlin and will apply my construction, zoning, and administrative experience to the continued sustainable and managed growth the Town has already established.

Anything else you’d like to share?

The Planning and Zoning functions are in place to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community and we will do all that we can to keep the high standards that Berlin maintains in place for many years to come.
