The Public Works Department is divided into two divisions: Streets and Sanitation. The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of Town owned streets and roadways and sidewalks. The Sanitation Division is responsible for trash and recycling collection. The Public Works Department is also responsible for the maintenance of Berlin’s four municipal parks as well as other town-owned properties.

Effective September 1, 2025:
TOWN-WIDE MONTHLY BULK PICKUP PROGRAM
- Beginning September 1, 2025, the Town will provide monthly bulk pickups for a fee of $25 on the second Wednesday of each month.
- Free Bulk Pickup will remain available during the month of November 2025 on November 5, 2025, and November 12, 2025.
- Effective January 1, 2026, bulk pickups will be scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month at a fee of $25. Residents must register in advance and submit payment by the designated deadline. The existing four-item limit and type restrictions will remain in effect. All free bulk pickup services will be discontinued as of this date.
