BERLIN – On Wednesday, May 16 the Berlin Chamber of Commerce presented its HOMETOWN HERO AWARD to the entire Town of Berlin Public Works Department in appreciation for all the support they provide for town events and for keeping the town of Berlin beautiful at all times. In presenting the award, Michael Wiley, Chairman of the HOMETOWN HERO AWARD Committee noted the effort and time put forward by members of the department in setting up, and cleaning up after events. Chamber President, Elaine Brady noted that she receives many comments on the appearance of the town and how clean it is. In addition to Wiley and Brady, Mayor Gee Williams, Michael Day, Economic Development Director and Olive Mawyer, Executive Director of the Chamber and several other members of the Chamber Board were present.
The HOME TOWN HERO award is presented occasionally to either and individual or organization that helps to make Berlin a nice place to live, work and visit. Past recipients include US Postal Service Employee James Tingle and the entire Berlin Fire Company.
