The Berlin Electric Department Distribution crew has recently installed fault indicators on electric lines to help them locate where a fault, or failure, has occurred in the case of a power outage. Typically, when a fault has occurred, it can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, without a tool to help isolate the location of the problem. The fault indicators lead the crew in the right direction by emitting a high-intensity red strobe light for four hours. If a customer sees the red light blinking during a power outage they can contact Town Hall (during normal business hours) at 410-641-2770, or the Police Department at 410-641-1333 to report the location.
