February 26, 2014 – The Worcester County Arts Council is proud to reveal students’ entries submitted for the Stephen Decatur Park mural contest coordinated by the Town of Berlin Park Commission. The existing mural, which dates back to 1992, is set to be repainted with compilation of designs this spring. This project is, in part, supported by a Community Arts Development grant provided by the Arts Council.
Young artists, their teachers, and selected muralist for this project, Ann Ashman, will be present at the open to the public reception and award ceremony held on Friday, March 14 at 6:30 pm at the Worcester County Arts Council Gallery located at 6 Jefferson Street.
This student exhibit is in conjunction with Youth Art Month, an annual observance in the month of March, to emphasize the value of art education for all students and to encourage support for quality school art programs. Student Art Month is a tribute to the teachers who inspire their students to explore new avenues of creative expression.
The entries will be on display at the Arts Council Gallery until March 30th.
Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday, 11 am – 3pm.
