William St. Culvert Project Starts Wednesday
Lane closures and road closures will be in place for the next four to six weeks
(August 18, 2017) — “The William St. Culvert Project will start on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. The project will affect travel on William St. between Cedar Avenue and Powellton Avenue for the next four to six weeks,” Mayor Gee Williams announced.
“The contractor will start with lane closures on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 through Friday, August 25, 2017. Construction will start around 7:00 am and will finish by 5:00 pm each day,” said Town Administrator Laura Allen. “A full road closure with detours is scheduled to start the week of August 28, 2017 and continue for the next several weeks. The project is expected to take four to six weeks” she added.
“It’s hard to tell exactly how many days the project will take to complete because of the nature of the work and our dependence on the weather. We recognize the importance of the Labor Day weekend to our residents and guests. It is likely that William St. will be closed that weekend. We will have detour signs in place for our guests to follow so they can easily find our cool, historic downtown,” stated Town Administrator Laura Allen.
