Over 40 citizens participate in Take Pride In Berlin Week Tradition

(April 24, 2018) — Take Pride in Berlin week kicked off on Saturday, April 21st with the annual Berlin Clean-Up Day.  Following a decades-old tradition, volunteers spent a few hours on Saturday to help give Berlin’s Parks and neighborhoods a spring cleaning.

Individuals and teams planted flowers and trees, weeded and mulched flower beds at Berlin’s three parks: Stephen Decatur, Dr. William Henry and Berlin Falls. They also picked up litter along town streets.  A team of volunteers also cleaned up Hudson Branch from Flower Street to Assateague Road, clearing the stream of four large truckloads of tires, bicycles, metal drums and more.

Lunch for volunteers was generously provided by SonRise Church at no cost.

The 2017 National Champion Pop Warner Football Team, Berlin’s own Seahawks were also on-hand to assist with clean-up and celebrate their achievement.

To further celebrate Take Pride in Berlin Week, the “Berlin Hide-Seek” scavenger hunt was launched on Saturday and will be an ongoing promotion in Berlin.

Berlin businesses this Saturday, April 28th, will begin offering “Take Pride Specials” to anyone sporting a “I Have Berlin Pride” wristband.  There will be a business open house with specials and discounts to end Take Pride In Berlin (TPIB) week.

A full list of participating merchants and TPIB wristbands are available at the Berlin Welcome Center on Main Street or at Town Hall.
