Summer is finally here, bringing high temperatures and humidity levels. See our tips on how to beat the summer heat below.

The Berlin Falls Park Advisory Committee is asking any resident or visitor for help in officially naming the park by completing a short survey.

The survey will remain open until June 14, 2019.

On Tuesday, May 28th the Mayor and Council approved a 5% increase in water rates and a 25% increase in sewer rates effective July 1st. We will have a reminder notice in your next bill. Other charges were increased as follows:

Fees for turning on and shutting off service outside of work hours – $58.50;
Hydrant permit fees – $200; and
Swimming pool owners interested in getting a sewer credit must contact the Town 24 hours in advance of filling their pool. The credit remains at $5 per 1,000 gallons of water but is capped at 10,000 gallons. Also, the service charge for this process was raised from $20 to $23.40.

The Public Hearing for the FY 2020 Budget is on Monday, June 10th at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers at 10 William St. We hope to see you there.

Berlin Bathtub Races: Friday, June 14, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The Battle of the Bathtubs. Businesses and sponsors compete in homemade rolling tubs for the Winner Take All Ducky Trophy.
Free Outdoor Movie: Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 8:30 pm on the corner of Jefferson & Main Street. Bring a chair, blanket and snack to enjoy the showing of Tuck Everlasting.
Historic July 4 th Celebration: Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum. Historic celebration, reading of the Declaration of Independence, children’s games, bands and picnic foods.
 
Berlin Fireworks: Wednesday, July 3, 2019 beginning at dusk at Berlin Falls Parks. A spectacular array of fireworks to celebrate Independence Day.

Hot Weather is Here!

The official start of summer is almost here and it’s important to have a plan to keep your cool even when the weather doesn’t. Volunteers Needed!

The Town is looking for volunteers to help with Berlin’s Ambassador Program. This program is designed answer questions guests may have about the Town. Ambassador volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from May 28th through September 27th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm or 1:00 pm-3:00 pm.
Volunteer Ambassadors receive an official Berlin Ambassador shirt, a “Thank You” celebration at the end of the season, and the opportunity to meet new people and experience Berlin from a new perspective. To sign up or learn more contact Allison Early, [email protected] or phone 410-629-1716.
