Stephen Decatur and Dr. William Henry Parks to Reopen
Along with William Street Public Restrooms
(June 11, 2020) — The Town of Berlin is pleased to announce that Stephen Decatur Park and Dr. William Henry Park will reopen after noon on Friday, June 12th for full use. The public restrooms in Henry Park and on William Street next to Town Hall will also reopen and portable toilets will be placed back in Stephen Decatur and Heron Parks.
Berlin Mayor Gee Williams announced that these facilities will reopen based on current recommendations. “The reopening of the parks and restrooms are being done in accordance with the recommendations of the CDC and following discussion with the Worcester County Health Department.”
Two weeks ago Town Hall, the Planning Department, and the Berlin Welcome Center reopened to the public with limitations to the number of non-employees allowed as well as social distancing and a requirement for face coverings. The Town has also facilitated the approval of outdoor seating for restaurants, and two downtown locations with general outdoor seating have been established on private property.
Curbside recycling collection also resumed as of June 1, 2020.
The issue of public attendance at public meetings is still under review, but it is hopeful that normal meeting protocols will soon be restored. Once public attendance at meetings resumes, meeting protocols will return to normal, though most meetings will continue to be available via live stream on Facebook.
As always, information about Mayor and Council and Board and Commission Meetings will be available via the Town website at berlinmd.gov or by signing up to receive email notifications at the bottom of any page on the website.
