(September 28, 2020) — Berlin residents and businesses did their part to reduce electricity usage during the peak hours during the Summer of 2020. Those efforts, commonly known as Tweak-Our-Peak, will help lower local power bills in 2021.
The lower usage (loads) during the peak hours will reduce electric costs by about $97,000 for the Town in 2021. This is approximately two percent of the town’s purchase power budget. This savings will be passed back to the residents and businesses through the power cost adjustment portion of the electric rate in the new year.
Residents may expect an annual reduction of approximately $17; Small General Service commercial customers approximately $15; General Service commercial customers approximately $130 and Large General Service customers approximately $1,400.
