Berlin Municipal Election
Only District 4 remains contested
(September 27, 2022) — The Berlin Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Town Administrator Mary Bohlen noted that, “Because no one filed as a Write-In Candidate by the deadline of close of business on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, only District 4 voters will vote at the poll. The candidates for District 1 and the At-Large seat will be declared as winners in their uncontested seats, meaning that voters for Districts 1, 2, and 3 will not vote on Election Day, and only District 4 will be a contested race.” Per Berlin Town Code, if only one individual is on a ballot for a given seat, the contest for that seat is declared as won by the sole candidate.
The candidates for the District 4 seat are as follows:
COUNCILMEMBER DISTRICT 4:
Dean Jonathian Burrell, Sr.
Anthony T. Weeg
She also noted that “District 4 voters can apply to vote absentee and obtain an absentee ballot in person at Town Hall as late as 4:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022.” Applications are available in person or on the Town Website under Government/Municipal Elections, but they must be hand-delivered to Town Hall at this point. “Because there is not enough time remaining to mail applications to voters, receive them back, and then mail an absentee ballot, voters wishing to vote by absentee ballot at this point must come to Town Hall and bring or complete the application in person.” She stresses that voters should not use the payment drop boxes to submit their application. Once submitted and verified, absentee voters will be given the ballot at that time. Town Hall is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Election Day is Tuesday, October 4, 2022. The polling location for District 4 is at the Berlin Police Department at 129 Decatur Street.
