Incident Location: MD Route 818 (N. Main Street) & US Route 50 (Ocean Gateway) Berlin, MD
Berlin, MD – The Berlin Police Department was dispatched at 4:49 pm to MD Route 818 and US Route 50 for a collision with two motor vehicles with one being on fire. Upon arrival, officers observed a 2000 GMC attached to a camper trailer engulfed in fire (truck only). The driver of the truck a 59 year old male from Shirley, NY was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Medical Center by Maryland State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 4) and the passenger a 63 from year old female, also, from Shirley, NY was transported by ambulance to Tidal Health. The second vehicle a 2022 F-150 was driven by a 43 year old male from Delmar, DE who was transported via ambulance to Tidal Health. The GMC truck with the camper trailer was on MD Route 818 crossing US Route 50 in the intersection and the Ford F-150 was travelling east on US Route 50 when the collision occurred. The GMC truck caught fire post impact. All involved have been released from medical care with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is being handled by the Berlin Police Department and preliminary results show that the GMC truck drove in the pathway of the Ford pick-up.
The Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police, Berlin Emergency Medical Services, Berlin Fire Company and the Ocean Pines Emergency Medical Services all assisted with the incident.
