America’s Coolest Small Town receives over $1.9 million from federal and state agencies
(August 26, 2014) — Mayor Gee Williams announced this week that Berlin recently received over $1.9 million in grant funding for stormwater improvements from three government agencies.
“We have been addressing our stormwater issues on a small scale, using the limited resources we have. These grants enable us to take that work to another level,” said Mayor Gee Williams. “We are focusing the funding on our top priority, making improvements on Flower Street along the Hudson Branch,” he added.
During the past several months, the Town received a $165,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), $800,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, and a $962,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for stormwater improvements.
