Wastewater Operator Trainee:

The selected candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have strong mechanical aptitude and a valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass the state certification within 5 years which requires 75 continuing education credits specifically related to the wastewater industry. CDL preferred but as a minimum must be able to obtain a CDL within 1 year.

 

The position requires the individual to perform general maintenance to include: mechanical, grounds, and tank and lift stations. Must be able to run tests associated with the running of a treatment facility and uate results to insure the proper function of the plant. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without accommodations. Must be able to work in all types of weather, must be able to work nights and weekends-when needed. Selected candidate will work in all functions of the department whenever needed.

 

Stormwater Laborer:

This is a newly created position within a newly created stormwater utility. Selected candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) and CDL must be obtained within 1 year. Must be able to work well with others and conduct themselves professionally at all times. The selected candidate will be required to interact with residents of the Town. Must be able to work in all types of weather. Must be available to work nights and weekends-when needed. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without accommodations.

The Town of Berlin is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Town Administrator. This highly responsible management position in the Town’s government works closely with the Mayor, Town Council and citizens of the Town. The Town Administrator supervises all department heads and is responsible for ensuring the overall efficient and effective administration of all Town’s departments; in conjunction with the Mayor, coordinates the Annual Town Budget; regularly monitors the expenditures of funds; makes operational decision on daily matters in consultation with the appropriate department head and in accordance with Town Code. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience as a City/County manager. Candidate will possess a MPA. Ideal candidate will be a member of ICMA (credentialed manager is preferred). Previous experience in inter-governmental relationships, personnel management, budgeting, financial management, and strategic planning required. The Town of Berlin is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planning and Building Director. This management position in the Town’s government works closely with the Town Administrator and serves as a staff contact with various Boards and Commissions in the Town of Berlin. Candidate enforces the zoning ordinance, inspects buildings, structures, signs or uses any premises to determine compliance or non-compliance with the terms and conditions of the zoning ordinance. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years’ experience as a building inspector, builder, engineer or architect, at least 5 of which shall have been in a supervisory level and/or 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Planning and Building. Candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements. Candidate must have the skills to interpret, administer and enforce building codes. Must possess the ability to work well with elected and appointed officials, outside consultants and the general public. The Town of Berlin is in search of a seasonal general laborer. Duties include and are not limited to cutting grass, trash removal and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.  Normal working hours will not exceed 30 hours per week.
